Abstract:
Generally Icelandic aggregates are very porous and of various quality, therefore not always suitable for production of a high performance concrete. The aim of this project is to evaluate aggregates from a new source in West-Iceland.
Rheological measurements were used to investigate the effect of the aggregates on fresh concrete's properties, particularly its workability loss, as the mix design will include a mixture of steel and synthetic structural fibers. This mix design aims at self compacting properties as it is to be used to restore bridge pillars, which necessitates self compacting concrete.
