Abstract: A coupled hygro-chemo-mechanical model for ASR affected concrete proposed by Bangert, Kuhl and Meschke [1] is applied to 3D computational durability analyses of ASR-affected concrete beams. The experimental results are taken from a comprehensive testing campaign performed at LCPC [2] on ASR-affected concrete beams subjected to a simultaneous wetting and drying process from the bottom and top face, respectively. The presentation focuses on the relevance of the model assumptions in view of the quality of the computed spatio-temporal distribution of the ASR-induced expansion and damage within the beam.
