Abstract: The properties of recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) are different from those of natural coarse aggregate (NCA). The workability, anti-gas permeability and chloride-penetration resistance of recycled concrete (RAC), namely concrete with recycled concrete aggregate, are poorer than those of normal concrete. This paper studied on physical and mechanical properties of recycled concrete aggregate. On this basis, the physical and mechanical properties and durability properties of recycled concrete were discussed, which was made up with cement, active admixture, natural coarse aggregate and recycled coarse aggregate. The research shows that, a certain amount of recycled concrete aggregate substituted natural coarse aggregate, compressive strength of recycled concrete was improved in some degree, and mixing amount of recycled concrete aggregate has an optimum value to compressive strength. Incorporation of recycled concrete aggregate will lead to decreased anti-gas permeability of recycled concrete. But particle filling effect in physical and secondary hydration of active admixture could improve anti-gas permeability of recycled concrete.
Mechanisms influence of recycled coarse aggregate and active admixtures on properties of recycled concrete were also analyzed. In addition, shrinkage growth rate of cement concrete sample with recycled concrete aggregate is faster than that of cement concrete sample with natural coarse aggregate, which should pay special attention to maintaining measure.
