Abstract: The performance of recycled simply crushed aggregates is relatively deprived, and it hereby demands shaping and strengthening treatment. A new aggregate particles shaping technique with advantages of simple preparation procedures, low production costs and high output is introduced in this paper. By using high speed (linear velocity > 80m/s) repeating mutual impact and frictions between aggregates, particle reshaping technique is able to remove the adherent mortar and makes aggregate particle cleaner and stronger. Research indicates that the particle bulk density of particle reshaped recycled aggregate increases by over 10% in average than that of simply-crushed recycled aggregate. The particles density increases from 2.56 g/cm3 to 2.59 g/cm3. The porosity decreases from 53.3 % to 48.5 %. The water absorption rate decreases from 4.7 % to 2.9 %. The crushing index values decreases from 15.8 % to 9.4 %. And by means of particle shaping and strengthening, the other properties of high quality recycled aggregates including dense density and acicular particle content are comparable with those of natural gravels, therefore, recycled aggregates are able to be used to cost normal concrete.
