Abstract: The objective of this work is to study the effect of rice husk ash (RHA) on autogenous shrinkage of Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC). The result was compared to that of the control sample without RHA and sample using silica fume (SF). The result shows that when 20% RHA was added, the autogenous shrinkage of UHPC was dramatically reduced, even eliminated in the later age. Moreover, the benefit of RHA on autogenous shrinkage was achieved when the particle size of RHA ranges between 5.6 µm and 9.0 µm, which was observed in this study. With 20% cement replacement, the development of compressive strength of RHA sample is more pronounced than that of SF sample. It suggests a mechanism for the internal curing of RHA in UHPC.
