Abstract: Understanding the hydro-thermo-mechanical behavior of building materials exposed to weather conditions is a first step in avoiding high moisture content in building material, which causes wood decay, corrosion and other degradation of structures in general and historical structures in particular. Consequently, studying the mechanism of coupled heat and moisture transport in porous building materials is essential to improve their lifetimes. The objective of the contribution is to incorporate the description of heat and moisture transport into the multiscale framework by using homogenization techniques. This step allows us to obtain more precise results of the material response.
