Abstract: The different concepts for the application of additives to concrete type II are briefly summarized in this paper and the advantages and disadvantages are pointed out. The concepts are the k-value approach, the concept of equivalent cement performance and the performance concepts described in EN 206-1. Additionally the concept used for technical approvals in Germany is discussed. Finally some hints for the advancement of performance concepts are given.
