Abstract: 
This chapter discusses the work carried out over the past decade towards the development of a durability test standard for sealants, especially the efforts undertaken by the ISO TC59/SC8 and RILEM TC139-DBS committees. The status of two integrated research programmes is reviewed which are currently pursued jointly with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) of Australia and the Long-term Durability of Building Materials Study Group at the University of Leipzig, Germany. The progress made in the development of a test method is being discussed and specific recommendations are made for a future durability test standard.
