Abstract:
Amounts of waste materials and recycled products
In Denmark recycling of construction and demolition waste in common practice. The amount of C&D waste is about 25 to 50% of the total amount of waste produced. Because of the volume of it and the scare capacity of landfills, there was a strong need for recycling of this kind of harmless waste.
The potential quantity of C&D waste in Denmark is estimated to have been 4.5 million tons in 1990, excluding soil and asphalt. In table 10 the distribution of different construction and demolition wastes in 1990 is presented. The registered amount of C&D waste at that time about 1/3 of this potential.
