Amounts of waste material and recycled products
As illustrated in table 29, the average production of C&D waste in Spain is difficult to estimate. Figures proposed by different organisations in the period 1992-1993 range from 7.2 to a maximum of 22 million tons a year. Currently the annual C&D waste production is estimated at around 0.38 tonnes per capita, which corresponds to about 17 million tons in total. One of the main reasons for these different estimates is the fact that the majority of the C&D waste produced, i.e. about 75% is disposed of or re-used in an uncontrolled way.
