Double video interview with RYC members

The RILEM Youth Council (RYC) was established in 2020. This initiative was proposed by the DAC Chair at the time, Prof. Hans Beushausen, and supported by the RILEM President Dr Nicolas Roussel.

Since its establishment, the RYC members have been very active, implementing new initiatives, such as the Peer-to-peer webinars (first one in 2022) and other outreach activities, such as the RILEM Youth Instagram account.

On 20-21 October 2025, the 1^st RILEM Youth Symposium (RYS2025) will take place - a milestone event for the RYC. This interview with the RYC European representatives, Dr Magda Posani (Aalto University, FINLAND), Chair of the RYS2025, and Dr Niki Trochoutsou (Politecnico di Milano, ITALY), member of the RYS2025 organising committee, offers an opportunity to reflect upon the importance of RILEM young members inside the association, the work of the RYC, and the enthusiasm for the upcoming Symposium .

RILEM would like to express sincere appreciation for the commitment of Joanitta Ndawula (University of Cape Town), the first Chair of the RYC (2020-2024); the RYC continues to be a successful initiative thanks to the foundational work that Joanitta implemented during her mandate; her leadership continues to inspire the next generation of RILEM Youth.
