RILEM event at the University of Genova

The University of Genova (UniGe), Italy, became RILEM Institutional Corporate member in 2024. To introduce the association to the PhD students of UniGe*, RILEM organised a presentation on Friday 16 February 2024, at the Department of Civil, Chemical and Environmental Engineering (DICCA), in the picturesque Villa Cambiaso.

The RILEM presentation took place at the end of the 1-week long PhD course “Advances in Bio-based cement composites”, lectured by Prof. Saulo Rocha Ferreira, visiting scholar from the Federal University of Lavras, Brazil. The course was held in hybrid mode: 23 local students attended in person, 26 students were remotely connected.

During the event, Dr Daniela Ciancio, RILEM Implementation Manager, presented RILEM. The participants learnt how to activate their RILEM membership, how to download the free RILEM publications, how to join a RILEM Technical Committee, and many more benefits.

After this short presentation, the attendants were treated with a light refreshment based on “focaccia ligure”, a local speciality.

The host of the event was Dr Antonio Caggiano, Deputy Chair of RILEM TC 299-TES : Thermal energy storage in cementitious composites.

* Institutional Member can have up to 15 staff members of 35 yo and above + unlimited staff members under the age of 35.
